Vertical Rescue - Chairlift/Gondola Evacuation

Aim

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to proceed to the evacuation of an unserviceable chairlift or gondola.

Description

This course is intended for employees (ski-patrollers or plant operators) with a need to safely conduct the evacuation of an inoperative gondola or chairlift.

Duration

The course can be conducted over a nominated time of 2 days.
Duration may vary with different work groups’ requirements.

Unit/s of Competence

There is not a recognised Unit of Competency awarded for this course.
However part of this training will cover; safe work at heights.

The unit MNMG237A Work Safely at Heights will be awarded to the participants demonstrating an acceptable level of competence.

Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Risk Response & Rescue Certificate and a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.

  • Terminology and Definitions
  • Identifying Hazards and Risks
  • Undertaking operations in accordance with OH&S procedures, legislative and operational guidelines
  • Preparation, inspection, carriage and stowing of equipment.
  • Different procedures of evacuation

Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites to this course

Assessment

Participants must be able to implement height safety procedures, identify hazards and risks and detail safe work requirements. They must also be able to operate whilst wearing safety equipment and explain emergency response and rescue procedures.
