Urban Search and Rescue (USAR)

Aim

The aim of this program is to qualify participants to carry out initial scene assessments and first response in urban search and rescue incidents.

To gain an appreciation of the likely resources required for a USAR response and provide situation reports and intelligence to coordinating authorities.

Description

This program is aimed at specialist personnel who may be deployed in an operational role in environments that expose them to possible USAR situations.  This program is unique in that it provides the participant with a combination of skills that meet all requirements of USAR Category 1 and selected requirements of USAR Category 2 that would be required of a first responder to initiate a secondary and extended USAR operation.  The course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge of scene assessment, casualty triaging and structural triage, gathering and reporting of key intelligence to expedite the rescue process.
