Supervisor's Response Procedures for the Handling of Suspect Items, Parcels and Cargo

Aim

The aim of this course is to develop Middle Managers and Frontline Supervisors to effectively and efficiently implement appropriate response actions in the event that any item, parcel or cargo of a suspect nature is identified or located.

Description

This program is designed for persons employed in supervisory roles who are responsible for personnel associated with the collection, removal, transport, and storage of items, parcels and cargo from land, sea or air distribution locations.

Duration

One and a half days including overnight stay in location.

Accreditation

Successful participants receive a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment and a Risk Response + Rescue Certificate.

  • Legislation, terminology & definition
  • History
  • Indentifying Suspect items parcels & cargo identification
  • Managing an incident
  • Effects and outcomes of mishandling/mismanagement of an incident
  • External agencies and emergency response organisations actions and responsibilities
  • Evacuation – full, temporary or part – procedures
  • Media presentation and case study review
  • Display and identification of commercial explosives and there accessories
  • Display and identification of firing trains and initiation systems
  • Description and display of suspect items, parcels and cargo
  • Live detonation of real time scenarios
  • Post blast assessments
  • Revisit and review of operational response actions and plan

Pre-Requisites

  • Signed agreement of confidentiality
  • Actively employed in role relevant to responsibilities and course content
  • National police security check or industry recognised equivalent

Assessment

  • Exercise scenario assessment
  • Practical demonstrations of competency
