Remote Area First Aid

Aim

The aim of this course is to provide skills, in accordance with industry guidelines, such that participants are confident to provide First Aid in a Remote and/or isolated environment when the need arises.

Description

This course is an intensive first aid training program where it is assumed that the participants are working/travelling in remote areas, and, if an accident/ illness occurred, it would take definitive medical care up to two hours, to get to the casualty. The emphasis, of this course, is on managing a casualty in a remote environment for an extended period of time. It is crucial that a good assessment is made of the casualty and accurate information obtained in order to make the decision as to the urgency of the patient’s condition and the treatment required. Participants will engage in a range of experiential practical scenarios ranging from 15 minute one-on-one sessions to extended one hour scenarios. The course is a good balance between theory and the all-important practical skills.
