Confined Space - Skills Maintenance

Aim 

The aim of this program is to provide a forum for currency and skills maintenance relating to safe entry, work and standby duties associated with confined space tasks.

Description

This program is designed for persons who have previously attained competency to enter and work in a confined space. 

It provides participants with a review of the OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health and safety of persons required to work in confined spaces.

Successful participants will receive a Risk Response & Rescue Certificate.

Course Content

  • Legislation, terminology and definitions
  • Protective equipment (including breathing apparatus)
  • Atmospheric hazards and monitoring
  • Working safely with hazardous substances and chemicals
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment & implementation of control measures
  • Safe entry, access and vertical mobility
  • Emergency response and considerations for rescue and recovery

Pre-Requisites

Competency in safe entry and work in a confined space to nationally recognised standards.

Assessment

Participants must be able to identify a confined space, identify hazards and risks and detail safe entry and work requirements. They must also be able to operate whilst wearing protective equipment and explain emergency response procedures.
