Confined Space - Intensive

Aim 

The aim of this program is to qualify participants to enter, work, and perform standby duties in or on the outside of a confined space.

Description

This program is designed for employees or supervisors who work in, or on; are associated with; or whose work is associated with confined spaces.

Duration

5 Days (this may vary due to existing current competence of participants)

Unit/s of Competence

Accreditation

Successful participants receive a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment and a Risk Response + Rescue Certificate. 

Course Content

  • Legislation, terminology and definitions
  • Protective equipment (including breathing apparatus)
  • Atmospheric hazards and monitoring
  • Working safely with hazardous substances and chemicals
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment & implementation of control measures
  • Safe entry, access and vertical mobility
  • Emergency response and considerations for rescue and recovery

Pre-Requisites

Nil, however participants should have a positive attitude towards workplace safety.

Assessment

Participants must be able to identify a confined space, its hazards and risks and detail safe entry and work requirements. They must also be able to demonstrate safe work practices whilst wearing PPE, and able to demonstrate emergency response procedures.

 Each participant will receive a Risk Response + Rescue learner handbook.
