Confined Space - Initial

Aim 

The aim of this program is to qualify participants to work safely and perform standby duties associated with a confined space.

Description

The course is designed for persons who are required to enter and work in confined spaces but do not require competency in breathing apparatus or emergency response. The course provides participants with the OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of persons required to work in confined spaces.  This course involves an introduction to emergency response procedures and considerations for first aid and fire fighting in a confined space context. This course does not train or assess competency in breathing apparatus.

Successful participants receive a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment and a Risk Response + Rescue Certificate.

Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites however participants should ensure they are can collect information, complete basic documents, work as a team, and participate in practical activities.

Participants must have the physical fitness to perform tasks in applicable personal protective equipment.

Assessment

Both written and practical assessment will be conducted to ensure participants can identify a confined space, identify hazards and risks and detail safe entry and work requirements. Participants must also be able to operate whilst wearing protective equipment and explain emergency response procedures.
