Confined Space - General Induction

Aim 

The aim of this course is to provide participants with a general understanding of confined space legislation, hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures relevant to safe entry and work in confined spaces.
The program can be customised to include an employers site specific confined space management programs.

Description

The Confined Space General Induction course is an awareness level course. It is intended for persons whose daily work is not directly associated with confined space entry or work, however require an overview of confined spaces and an appreciation of the hazards and risks associated with them. There is a deliberate underlying theme of eliminating the need to enter a confined space under any circumstances.

The course provides participants with an awareness of the OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health and safety of persons required to work near confined spaces.

This course is designed to provide a basic awareness and does not qualify participants to enter and work in confined spaces autonomously.

Duration

A notional time of between one and two days is suggested and would be related to the participants' degree of exposure to confined spaces. This varies with different work groups' requirements.

Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Risk Response & Rescue Certificate of Participation.

There are no pre-requisites to this course.

Assessment

There are no formal assessment strategies on this course. Participants must are required to demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding.
