Aim 

Description

The work safely around aircraft course is designed for persons who, because of the nature of their work, are transported in aircrafts or have to perform various tasks around aircrafts.

The course provides the participants the knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with aircraft.

The course provides participants with an awareness of the OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health and safety of any persons required to work near aircrafts.

Duration

Course duration varies from 6 to 16 hours depending participants roles and experience, organisational and operational requirements.

• Legislation
• Terminology and Definitions
• Compliance with regulatory requirements and the organisation’s procedures 
• Identification of hazards, and precautions effected on a consistent,  conscious and continuing basis
  
• Aircraft familiarisation 
• Aerodrome familiarisation 
• Aerodrome working and lighting 
• Aircraft movement characteristics 
• Overview of aircraft performance, operation, loading and refuelling precautions
• Detailed knowledge of procedures for unusual events

Pre-Requisites

Assessment

• Participants are required to demonstrate an acceptable level of competency.
• Participants must be able to identify hazards and risks and express a basic knowledge of safe work procedures around an aircraft.
