Aim

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to safely undertake a winter backcountry day trip.

Description

The course is intended for individuals wanting to consolidate their knowledge required for maintaining their safety in winter conditions.

Duration

The course can be conducted over a nominated time of 2 days.
Duration may vary with different groups’ requirements.

Unit/s of Competence

There is not a nationally recognised Unit of Competency awarded for this course.

Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Risk Response & Rescue Certificate of Participation.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites to this course

Assessment

Participants are required to demonstrate an acceptable level of competency.
Participants must be able to identify hazards and risks and implement safety procedures.
