Aim

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to identify dangerous snow conditions, take relevant precautions, and deal with the burial of team members.

The course is intended for individuals or professionals who might be exposed to dangerous snow conditions.

Duration

The course can be conducted over a nominated time of 1 day.


Duration may vary with different groups’ requirements.

Unit/s of Competence

There is not a recognised Unit of Competency awarded for this course.

Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Risk Response & Rescue Certificate of Participation.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites to this course.

Assessment

Participants are required to demonstrate an acceptable level of competency.

Participants must be able to identify hazards and risks, implement safety procedures, and conduct a basic avalanche rescue.
