Access & Equity

Policy

Risk Reponses and Rescue (hereafter referred to as RR+R) is committed to providing a workplace and learning environment that complies with the Anti-Discrimination Act and Regulations and all access and equity legislation that is free from discrimination, disadvantage, harassment and vilification and ensures our clients and staff are safeguarded by current legislation.

Training and learning resources will reflect responsiveness to the diverse learning needs of participants and will be used in an ethical manner.

RR+R employees and representatives will not, by action, words or inferences, discriminate against, harass, mislead or endanger another person.

All marketing and promotional material will be checked for accuracy and to ensure that it does not have a format or content which could be considered offensive, misleading or discriminatory.

A RR+R course participant, client, employee, representative or volunteer will not be discriminated against because of:

  • race
  • sex
  • sexual preference
  • age
  • disability
  • marital status
  • family responsibilities
  • pregnancy
  • religion
  • political opinion
  • national extraction
  • social origin
  • transgender
  • who they are related to

Every possible step will be taken to ensure that individuals are treated fairly and equally and that decisions on selection or assessment are based on the objective evaluation of the individual’s skills, ability and suitability for the training to be undertaken.

Access will not be limited by reason of race, gender, marital status, sexual preference, educational background, colour, pregnancy, national origin, ethnic or socio-economic background, religious or political affiliation.

RR+R conducts courses that by their nature may place significant physical, emotional and intellectual demands on participants. Therefore, while RR+R generally allows access to its courses regardless of physical fitness, size or height, physical impairment, or intellectual impairment, it may deny participation, or terminate participation, of a person where, in the opinion of RR+R, that person’s physical or intellectual condition may imperil the health, safety or welfare of themselves, or others, in the conduct of the course, or subsequently in the performance of their duties. In such a case the company will provide supporting documentation and will discuss the matter with the
person and his or her employer if applicable.

Staff and contract trainers are to ensure that they do not make political or ethnic comments, that examples used are free from gender or other bias, that any humour used does not belittle any person or race, and exercise caution in the use of innuendo, 'bloke jokes' etc. to ensure they give no offence to course participants.

Access & Equity requirements extend across the organisation and all staff are to ensure they are constantly aware of the Company’s policies in this regard.

RR+R will provide all staff and contract trainers with all necessary Access and Equity information on induction and the Training and Office Manager will advise them of any subsequent changes to them.

These policies apply in the Support Centre, training centres, clients sites, and all other facilities where RR+R operates
