The winch originates from the Chamonix region of France where it is a life saving resource for the fire and alpine rescue teams in the area.

It is rated and capable of lifting a stretcher with a casualty and up to two escorts with a safe working load of 300kgs.

Unique to Australian rescue systems, the winch can utilise a variety of either synthetic ropes or wire cables of varying diameters from 6 to 16mm.

The winch itself is very compact and weighs only 10kg allowing it to be easily carried by one operator.

When using aramid ropes of 6mm diameter the weight of cordage is greatly reduced allowing 300 metres to be easily carried in a backpack by an operator or transported by helicopter.

The winch can be powered by hand, an electrical unit, or 3 to 6 hp gas or diesel generators. All configurations include an automatic braking system. It is very easy and quick to change from powered winching to manual.

The winch also comes with an ingenuous light and compact edge management system.
